Ethiopia Guji Tirtira Goyo
Some coffees reveal themselves slowly — a quiet first impression that deepens into something unforgettable. When this lot first hit the cupping table, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. But with each tasting, it unfolded beautifully — layered, expressive, and full of life.
This coffee comes to us from Firaol Ahmed in St. Louis, who sourced it from Wondafrash Edema, one of the most inspiring producers we’ve partnered with. His washing station sits in Tirtira Goyo, a small town tucked within the rolling hills of Guji, a region once part of Sidama until its distinct character earned its own name.
Tirtira means “intrepid” in Oromo — an apt reflection of Wondafrash himself, one of 29 siblings who grew up surrounded by coffee trees and built a life devoted to sharing their beauty with the world. Behind his calm, serious presence lies a quiet pride and determination that you can taste in every cup.
The result is a radiant and fruit-forward coffee — strawberry sweetness, lush cantaloupe, and a hint of banana that lingers softly, like sunlight at the edge of the day.
