This coffee comes from nine small producers in the mountain town of San Pedro Necta, in the Huehuetenango department. Byron Benavente helped connect the producers with the Bella Vista mill - located in nearby Antigua department. Sr. Benavente regularly helps to connect the Bella Vista mill with producers in Huehuetenango.
Byron’s primary contact in this area is Marcos Domingo who leads the group of producers for Las Palomas. Thanks to this connection, the families of Las Palomas have received assistance in improving their agricultural management and processing at their wet mill using Bella Vista-inspired methods. The washed coffees is then transported to Bella Vista to dry and prepare for export.
Luis Pedro Zelaya Zamora is the fourth generation farmer/owner of Bella Vista estate. Bella Vista works double duty as a high quality specialty coffee farm, and as a processing facility (known as a mill), where they process several other local producers' coffees as well as their own.
Roaster: Broadcast Coffee in Seattle Washington.
Recommended brew method: V60 | Chemex | Autodrip | Aeropress
